K-pop superstar j-hope leaves Allstate Arena in awe thanks to “HOPE ON THE STAGE,” a bit of BTS

The entire solo journey of j-hope can be linked back locally to Lollapalooza, where the breakout BTS superstar made history as the first-ever Korean artist to close out the iconic festival in its three-decade existence.
It turns out the rapper, singer, songwriter, dancer and producer is shattering ticket sales records all over again thanks to the global “HOPE ON THE STAGE” Tour, including a pair of sold out stops at the Allstate Arena, where he’ll return on Tuesday, March 18.
In terms of opening night, j-hope thrilled the masses throughout two hours and change, dropping material from his mix tape “Hope World,” the full-length debut “Jack In The Box” and the EP “Hope On The Street Vol. 1,” in addition to several standalone singles and even a bit of BTS.
The larger than life spectacle features a vibrant live band, numerous lifts, loads of lasers and a trio of enormous LED screens, each complimenting five distinct segments stocked with symbolism, such as the early “Ambition” of the bangers “What If…,” “Pandora’s Box,” “Arson,” “STOP” and “MORE.”
This headliner’s exciting “Dream” kept unfolding on the newer notes of “on the street,” plus studio collaborations as wide-ranging as Benny Blanco and Nile Rodgers for “lock / unlock” or group mate Jung Kook on “I wonder…”
J-hope soon jumped into the chilled out R&B grooves of “Sweet Dreams,” which was recorded alongside Miguel, and a little later, switched towards the “Expectation” scene to combine both versions of “Airplane” and a string of BTS standouts (“MIC DROP,” “Silver Spoon,” “Dis-Ease”), much to the delight of longtime fans.
J-hope’s “Fantasy” continued to leap to life after “Daydream,” leading to the colossal sing-a-long of his Becky G pairing, “Chicken Noodle Soup,” and the pre-encore closer, “Hope World,” as everyone roared for more.
He thankfully made their “Wish” come true, dropping the bonus favorites “= (Equal Sign),” Future” and the Gaeko/yoonmirae triple team “NEURON,” sending the Allstate Arena home uplifted, unified and feeling hopeful for a limitless future.
