The outstanding musical catalog of singer/songwriter Neil Diamond has been beloved by fans throughout his five decades-long career.

Currently, many of his chart-topping gems are receiving expert treatment in “A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical.” The production continues to Sunday, November 24 at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre.

A Beautiful NoiseDirect from Broadway, “A Beautiful Noise” relays the story of the Brooklyn-born musician’s life and career. The story is told in a type of Then and Now fashion with two performers starring as younger and elder Diamond.

The production is framed around the elder Neil’s visit to his psychoanalyst, who helps prompt a look back at the ups and downs of his life.

While the analyst scenes provide a bit of a sad side to the entertainer’s life, the other portions, in which the songs are featured in concert fashion, offer the upbeat part of this outstanding production.

Starring as Neil (Then) is Nick Fradiani, winner of “American Idol” in 2015, who offers a dynamic portrayal of Diamond with vocals reminiscent of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s distinctive tones.

Other strong cast members include Robert Westenberg as Neil (Now), Hannah Jewel Kohn as Marcia Murphy, Lisa Renee Pitts as Doctor and Tiffany Tatreau as Jaye Posner.

A Beautiful Noise“A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical” is presented by producers Ken Davenport, The Four Seasons’ Bob Gaudio and NETWorks Presentations, along with Broadway in Chicago.

Among the many highlights are the mega anthem “Sweet Caroline,” as well as “America,” “Solitary Man,” “Forever In Blue Jeans,” “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Kentucky Woman,” “September Morn” and others.

Since Diamond, who was involved in putting this show together, no longer tours, this production is the next best thing to seeing the superstar himself.
