Superstar Neil Diamond’s music has been a favorite of actor/singer Nick Fradiani since he was a child. “I enjoyed his music. My dad was a big Neil Diamond fan,” Fradiani said, adding his father exposed him to Diamond’s rich catalog and he found he “connected” to it.

Fradiani is now starring as Neil Diamond (Then) in the Chicago premiere of “A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical” at The Cadillac Palace Theatre. He previously played the role on Broadway in 2023. “A Beautiful Noise” continues to November 24 in Chicago.

The show is brought to the stage by producers  Ken Davenport, The Four Seasons’ Bob Gaudio and NETWorks Presentations, along with Broadway in Chicago.

“A Beautiful Noise” tells the story of Diamond, who hails from Brooklyn, and the rise of his career as a superstar songwriter and singer.

Fradiani explained that two actors portray Diamond in the production as they offer a look at the singer Then and Now. Diamond has also been heavily involved in the presentation of this show, which offers the very first time his life and career has been told in creative fashion in a theatrical production.

“What I love the most about this show is it’s kind of like a play within a huge arena concert,” said Fradiani. He added it’s also a fun show “with so much heart.”

Fradiani said Diamond, who attended the show’s opening night on Broadway, loves the production. “It’s the way he would want his story to be told.”

The actor said he hopes audiences seeing the show take away “how much Neil loved the music, his audience and performing.”

An array of Diamond’s hit songs appear in “A Beautiful Noise. Among tunes fans can expect to hear are “Sweet Caroline,” “America,” Solitary Man,” “Forever in Blue Jeans” and more.

Fradiani, who won “American Idol” in 2015, released his debut album, “Hurricane,” in 2016 and his second album, “Past My Past,” in 2022.
