No matter how many farewells and comebacks mounted by Cher thus far this millennium, fans keep on flocking back for more fabulousness.

In fact, the 73-year-old superstar of studio, stage and screen appears to be winking right along, dubbing her latest show “Here We Go Again,” but swearing during an encore visit to the United Center that this is really the end of mounting mega-tours.

That statement may or not have been entirely believable given her track record, but if it actually winds up being the case, the Grammy, Emmy and Academy Award-winner pulled out all the stops and then some with what’s easily her most Cherrific undertaking to date.

Whether she was descending from the ceiling to the throbbing beats of “Woman’s World,” riding a life size electronic elephant during “All Or Nothing” or practically setting up an entire Hollywood soundstage for “Welcome To Burlesque,” it was a showstopping spectacle pumped full of sparkles, glitter and glamor.

And it was all accompanied by several statements and iconic songs, including the empowering “Strong Enough” and the sentimental “I Got You Babe,” complete with longtime duet and romantic partner Sonny Bono on the jumbo screen.

This “Dancing Queen” also gave a nod to that recent ABBA tribute album of the same name and her role in “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” with the classics “Waterloo,” “SOS” and “Fernando” from those Rock and Roll Hall of Famers.

Yet it was her own ageism-crushing “If I Could Turn Back Time” and the Auto-Tune trailblazer “Believe” that really boosted the audience’s faith in the immortal entertainer who’s perpetually broken promise on retirement turned out to be everyone’s reward.

Prior to the headliner, Nile Rodgers & Chic hearkened back to the glory days of Studio 54 with a string of disco delights and tracks its longtime leader/producer wrote for others of Cher-like stature.

Whether the soulful troupe was chanting “Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)” or commanding “Everybody Dance,” it was nothing but “Good Times” and a fantastic bonus to an already bountiful extravaganza.
