In the seven years since the world previously heard a full-length offering by English singer/songwriter Jessie J, the soulful pop superstar experienced multiple hardships, including a miscarriage and surviving breast cancer.
She encountered one more major setback when the American edition of the “No Secrets” Tour, supporting 2025’s “Don’t Tease Me With A Good Time,” had to be canceled as a result of a surgery tied to the latter, though that didn’t stop faithful from virtually lining up in droves once the new dates finally got announced.
In fact, downtown’s iconic House Of Blues was quickly filled to capacity to catch the return of Jessie J, who besides mirroring the album’s stripped down arrangements in acoustic contexts, was a portrait of resilience and relatability for almost two hours.
The reflections began with “FEEL IT ON ME” as the headliner appeared in an opera box, gradually approaching the understated stage while a shower of smartphones joyfully tracked every move.
Upon joining a guitarist, bassist and pianist, the powerhouse vocalist devoured “Do It Like A Dude,” then continued to slay “NO SECRETS,” “IF I SAVE YOU” and “BELIEVE IN MAGIC.”
Each of those capitalized titles came from the current collection and their emphasis was certainly warranted, although the same could be said about older tunes, such as the empowering pair “Who Are You” and “Price Tag.”
Now over a decade into a chart-topping career, Jessie J attracted multiple generations and frequently brought together everyone, culminating in various fans taking the lead throughout “Nobody’s Perfect,” “Flashlight” and “Masterpiece.”
No matter the moment or mood, Jessie J was always “LIVING MY BEST LIFE” and reminded others to embrace the mantra, followed by a turn towards the dance floor for “Domino” and framing “THE AWARD GOES TO” as a dedication to those who’ve stuck so steadfastly by her side, all while proving to be well worth the extra wait.
