Trying to pinpoint Falling In Reverse is practically impossible, not that it’s really necessary, but for those outside the know, imagine a hard rock meets metalcore foundation, alongside ample amounts of rap and periodic pop/punk.

The fact that Ronnie Radke and the latest line-up just collaborated with country superstar Jelly Roll adds a further layer to the equation, all of which contributed to a completely packed Huntington Bank Pavilion At Northerly Island.

After grinding on the club circuit for a decade-and-a-half, the band belatedly blew up into a “Popular Monster” indeed, to quote the title of its fifth studio album, the bulk of which was on display throughout 70 unrelenting minutes of mayhem, which began with “Prequel” paving the way.

From there, Falling In Reverse got “Zombified” and kept the creepy vibes going throughout “I’m Not a Vampire” and “Bad Guy,” prior to lighting up “Losing My Mind” and proclaiming “The Drug In Me Is You” as fireballs regularly shot across the skyline.

Many loudly accompanied the older “Just Like You” to bring a fake and funny ending to the main portion of the performance, though an encore of “All My Life,” the current title track and “Voices In My Head” weren’t too far behind.

One of the earliest openers, Tech N9ne, turned back up to lend his rhymes to “Ronald,” followed by Falling In Reverse giving everyone a front row seat to “Watch The World Burn” in wonder and awe of all the intensity they just experienced.

Somewhere in the middle, Black Veil Brides brought a visually captivating jolt of glam meets gothic metal, from “Faithless” to “In The End” with a personalized interpretation of Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell” in between.

Even more unpredictable experimental rockers Dance Gavin Dance delivered its own sense of “Spooky” and “Synergy,” plus Tech N9ne tackled a ton of his horrorcore hip-hop hits in a series of medleys and relative newcomer Jeris Johnson dropped some “Dragonborn” on an arriving crowd getting ready to roar.
