He may have only gotten started around 2020, but Peso Pluma is already the most streamed artist of all time in Mexico who’s just as quickly conquering America and the rest of the world.

The 25-year-old singer/songwriter occupies a lane almost entirely his own at the moment, reviving the corridos tumbados style of ballads with hip-hop and Latin trap influences, alongside a hearty helping of Regional Mexican and reggaeton.

Peso PlumaWhen he finally came to the Fiserv Forum following three postponements and a somewhat uncertain touring schedule in general, which thankfully seems to be completely ironed out, needless to say fans were beyond ready to roll.

Despite having to hang tight a little while longer, around 100 minutes or so past the ticketed start time, the Grammy Award winner proved to be more than worth the wait as he pulled primarily from the blockbuster breakthrough “Génesis” and the darker shades of “Éxodo,” performing in Spanish with many originals, collaborative covers and crossovers sprinkled in the mix.

Pluma made the arena feel surprisingly intimate as his gigantic band and fleet of flexible dancers spent the evening switching between the main circular stage and runaway, plus it sure didn’t hurt that the headliner oozed charisma throughout every shout, point towards the stands or wildly animated jump as thousands of phones raised in the air.

Though he actually began by singing in a bedazzled mask for the opening  “La Patrulla,” the cheers turned deafening for the dramatic facial reveal during “La Durango” and the roars continued across each meticulously constructed groove thereafter.

Peso Pluma“Siempre Pendientes,” “Quema” and “La Bebe” completely transcended genre and language, while “Hollywood” and a centrally located acoustic set brought gentler flavors and rhythmic brilliance.

In fact, Pluma is one of the few who could be as lit as it gets one minute, and then strip it all down to the barest of bones, mesmerizing the Milwaukee audience in either instance on the way to what’s looking like total a global takeover.
