Normally the only sounds coming out of Soldier Field during the blustery winter months are the shouts of football fans, but when the Chicago Bears Drumline started playing along to Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start The Fire,” it made concert season feel right around the corner.

It was accompanied by an unprecedented announcement from Chicago Park District CEO & General Superintendent, Rosa Escareno, and Live Nation’s Midwest Region Vice President of Regional Marketing, Katie Rose, that the iconic “Piano Man” would be stopping by the stadium on Friday, June 21 in what would easily sell out on its own, though it’s destined for an instant touchdown thanks to co-headliner Stevie Nicks.

Billy Joel Stevie Nicks announcementAlongside Staley Da Bear, press and guests were given several fascinating facts about each A-list entertainer, including Joel’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame with more than 160 million records sold.

Nicks ranks right up there, being inducted in the Rock Hall on two separate occasions as a solo artist and as part of Fleetwood Mac, all while collectively moving more than 140 million albums and continuing to perform both classic catalogues.

Although they have collaborated occasionally in the past, this is the first time the legends have ever come to town together or appeared at the revered venue following Joel’s five-year stand of consecutive sell outs at Wrigley Field and Nicks’ similar status at the United Center.
