The contagious electropop of ARIZONA has a sold out House Of Blues dancing and feeling
Perpetually building and buzzing electropop band ARIZONA has done its fair share of headlining, alongside massive support slots for Panic! At The Disco and Quinn XCII, but the “Live For A Night” Tour may be its most defining outing to date.
Indeed its third album, a self-titled affair on Fueled By Ramen, is already a charm, attracting several sell outs, such as Chicago’s beloved House Of Blues, where the group brought a wide and wonderfully creative video wall.
For 100 pulsating minutes, fans and newcomers alike were treated to not only some seriously contagious new tunes, but many other memories from 2019’s “Asylum” and 2017’s “Gallery.”
Across each collection and a few other stray singles, the New Jersey trio comprised of singer Zachary Charles, guitarist Nathan Esquite and keyboardist/guitarist David Labuguen, plus a live drummer, have nearly perfected both hook-heavy bangers and atmospheric ballads, complete with many life-affirming, mental health-themed messages.
Put them in a communal or even a livestream environment as was also the case on this evening, and ARIZONA seriously earned all the feels from the onset of “Freaking Out,” “Brave Enough” and “Summer Days/Where I Wanna Be.”
The crests kept coming throughout the stacked stretch of “Pressure,” “Find Someone,” “Nostalgic,” “Electric Touch,” “Problems” and “Moving On,” each possessing colossal choruses and towering beats.
The guys soon switched gears towards a segment showcasing their experimental and introspective side with the likes of “Wanderer,” “Dark Skies,” “Let Me Touch Your Fire” and many others, which meant a slight dip in the momentum, but never at the expense of quality craftsmanship.
“What She Wants,” “Annie,” “Cross My Mind” and “Graveyard” got everyone back to grooving, while the ethereal “Oceans Away” sparked one final sing-a-long and an assurance that no matter the specific state, ARIZONA is here to stay.
