Lollapalooza is about to land in Grant Park from Thursday, August 3 through Sunday, August 6, continuing its now four-day tradition with what could very well be its most diverse line-up since starting on the road in 1991.

In addition to the longstanding festival’s alternative rock roots, there’s an ample supply of pop in varying forms, plus hip-hop, EDM, country, Latin sounds, kids’ tunes and essentially something for everyone.

Comprised of well over 150 acts, the recommendations could on nearly as long, but here’s a concise guide to some potential prizes that shouldn’t be missed under any circumstances.

1. Kendrick Lamar (Friday)
If the rhythmic, lyrical and conceptual genius of Kendrick Lamar’s 2022 tour supporting “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” was any indication, Lollapalooza is likely to be in for a thought-provoking treat when he gets ready to unleash whatever wondrous chapter might be next.

Lollapalooza 2023 preview2. Odesza (Saturday)
The only way to describe electronic enigma Odesza is to simply say the duo comprised of Catacombkid and BeachesBeaches, along with a massive supporting cast and seriously supernatural production, must be seen to be believed.

3. Karol G (Thursday)
Not since Selena has a Latin pop artist crossed over to such a significant degree as Karol G, who sold out the Allstate Arena in 2022, is nearing similar status at the enormous Soldier Field on Friday, September 15 and is poised to make some significant Lollapalooza history in between.

4. Billie Eilish (Thursday)
In one of the more excruciatingly difficult scheduling segments, alt-pop/rock innovator Billie Eilish is basically performing opposite Karol G, and though their musical styles may be completely different, it’s equally imperative to catch a slice of each.

5. Diplo (Thursday)
Complicating matters smack dab in the center of those aforementioned co-headliners is world-renown DJ/producer Diplo, already a clear winner for the EDM audience, but is still worth even the casually curious to sprint over and see at least a little bit.

6. Lana Del Rey (Sunday)
Playing opposite Red Hot Chili Peppers, who need no introduction or recommendation because they’ve consistently crushed it since the very beginning of Lollapalooza, is the sweet and sultry dream pop of Lana Del Rey, easily one of this generation’s most distinctive vocalists and prolific songwriters, now on her third album since previously coming to town four years ago.

Lollapalooza 2023 preview7. The Revivalists (Saturday)
As far as rock bands go, The Revivalists are also recurring festival favorites, destined to unpack a rootsy new album, “Pour It Out Into The Night,” alongside many adventurous past jams.

8. Sabrina Carpenter (Friday)
The evolution of artist/actress Sabrina Carpenter, from her Disney Channel beginnings to the introspective pop bangers of “Emails I Can’t Send,” is absolutely extraordinary and she’s sure to bring the party every step of the way.

9. Destroy Lonely (Saturday)
Red hot rapper Destroy Lonely is slated to start in the early evening, but it probably won’t be long before the “If Looks Could Kill” creator and Playboi Carti protégé is closing with his blend of charisma, humor and unpredictable beats.

10. Maisie Peters (Sunday)
English singer/songwriter/guitarist Maisie Peters is making major splashes on these shores thanks to “The Good Witch,” plus her prior breakthrough “You Signed Up For This,” garnering considerable praise from pal Ed Sheeran and loads of Lollapalooza lovers.
