With so many major players, the “Ultimate Freestyle Super Jam” more than lived up to its lofty title for three-and-a-half hours of live Latin, dance, pop, hip-hop and house music at a crowded Rosemont Theatre.

The lengthy list of performers who populated the suburban hot spot included the genre’s king Stevie B and queen Lisa Lisa, alongside fellow club favorites K7 & TKA, Judy Torres, George Lamond, Noel, Cynthia, Lisette Melendez and Coro, many of whom were backed by MGM Guarnera Brothers.

Adding additional historical significance to the occasion, several artists paid tribute to the late Irene Cara, the Latina groundbreaker known for “Sparkle,” “Fame” and Flashdance,” whose death was announced earlier that day. “What A feeling” indeed as everyone sang the ever so appropriate lines: “I’m gonna live forever. Baby, remember my name.”
