Breaking records is practically a daily occurrence for BLACKPINK, easily the most colossal girl group of this century, who’s merger of K-pop and hip-hop has captured the attention of the entire lightstick-waving globe.

In a mere six years, these four ladies from South Korea have logged seven billion streams on Spotify and the most subscriptions of any musical act on all of YouTube with more than 80 million, to name but a few of their staggering statistics.

BLACKPINKIt all translated to a Billboard 200 chart-topping album that went double platinum in less than two days, both firsts for the entire genre, boldly titled “BORN PINK,” followed by an immediate double sell out at the United Center, alongside all 13 of the other American and European cities.

When it came to the Chicago opener, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa matched if not surpassed the momentum thanks to a two-hour show, which found them frequently swapping lead slots, joining together in harmony, astounding with eye-catching choreography and regularly changing their trendsetting fashions.

As everyone alternated between the current collection, its predecessor, “THE ALBUM,” and prior shorter projects, BLACKPINK was backed by a live band, 14 additional dancers, plus a dazzling production of lasers, streamers and fire, ensuring Blinks from the front to the very back could all feel involved.

After asking the diverse and often screaming audience “How You Like That,” the foursome was “Pretty Savage” when it came to showcasing its brief but already bountiful catalogue, one also featuring collaborations with Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, Cardi B and Selena Gomez.

On stage, BLACKPINK was cut from the same charismatic cloth as any of the above, especially during exhilarating editions of “Don’t Know What To Do,” “Lovesick Girls,” “Kill This Love,” “Crazy Over You” and “Playing With Fire” up front.

BLACKPINKThe middle portion was just as mighty thanks to “Pink Venom” and everyone’s chance to showcase equally striking solo segments, all of which propelled BLACKPINK towards the additional sugar rushes of “Shut Down” and “Typa Girl.”

“Forever Young” made for a fabulous finale fake-out, but there was a lot to come thanks to a thrilling encore of the vibrant “Yeah Yeah Yeah,” the tender “Stay” and the dance-off sparking “As If It’s Your Last.”

Given a reception that could’ve shattered the Richter scale, chances are BLACKPINK will be back much sooner than later with its sights set on stadiums and even more history to be made.
