Get ready for rare reunions, exclusive albums and the whole Riot Fest underground

No festival on earth gets as many bands back together or curates exclusive, full-album performances as Riot Fest, which brings countless sounds out of the underground to Douglass Park from Friday, September 16 through Sunday, September 18.

The headliners, My Chemical Romance, The Original Misfits and Nine Inch Nails, are probably enough to fill a field without all that much assistance, but the undercard is equally appealing and frequently unexpected.

Whether it’s the return of rapper Coolio, punk icon Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg, Taylor Swift producer Jack Antonoff’s band Bleachers, emo favorites Sunny Day Real Estate or ska lifers Less Than Jake, here are ten crucial sets in what’s shaping up to be summer’s supreme closing fling.

Riot Fest1. My Chemical Romance (Friday)
Over a decade since last roaring into town, My Chemical Romance says “Welcome To The Black Parade” once again and promises to tear through one of the most intense and theatrical catalogues of this century thus far.

2. The Original Misfits (Saturday)
The core members of the horror punk powerhouses The Misfits, front man Glenn Danzig, bassist Jerry Only and guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, will perform their groundbreaking debut, “Walk Among Us,” in its entirety to mark the 40th anniversary.

3. Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Sunday)
The hiatus is finally over for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who besides going back to the garage, will also catch fans up to speed with revitalized cuts from “Cool It Down” following a nine-year hiatus from the studio.

4. Coolio (Saturday)
Rapper Coolio doesn’t record all that often anymore, but his list of genre-defining, multi-platinum moments more than speak for themselves, including “Fantastic Voyage,” “1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin’ New)” and “Gangsta’s Paradise.”

5. Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg (Friday)
Several of the Ramones have died, but the group’s legacy lives on thanks to longtime drummer Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg, who has the potential to pull out the iconic likes of “Blitzkrieg Bop,” “Sheena Is A Punk Rocker” and “Blitzkrieg Bop.”

Riot Fest6. Sunny Day Real Estate (Saturday)
This isn’t the first or even second time emo/indie rock favorites Sunny Day Real Estate have gotten back together, but hopefully this third time will be the charm in prompting another full-length project, which hasn’t happened since 2000’s trailblazing “The Rising Tide.”

7. Less Than Jake (Sunday)
By contrast, ska lifers Less Than Jake have been together exactly 30 years with a ton of tunes in between, meaning absolutely anything is possible from its horn-heavy arsenal during this sunny retrospective.

8. Yellowcard (Saturday)
Five years after waving farewell, violin-centered pop/punk/alternative rockers Yellowcard reconvenes for all of 2003’s “Ocean Avenue,” the album that brought the guys to the major leagues thanks to the smash title track, “Only One” and “Way Away.”

9. Jimmy Eat World (Sunday)
Fellow hit makers and veteran craftsman, Jimmy Eat World, already gave last year’s Lollapalooza a taste of its ageless emo/power pop, but may dig even deeper into an experimental well dating back to the mid-1990s.

10. Bleachers (Friday)
Many know Jack Antonoff for work behind the scenes with Taylor Swift, but he initially found fame in fun. and continues following a synth/indie pop muse on Bleachers’ “Take The Sadness Out Of Saturday Night,” which actually comes to Riot Fest a day before its namesake and should help pave the way for a wildly wonderful weekend.
