As the best-selling American girl group of all-time, TLC’s entire body of work is essential listening, but if there was ever an album to define Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, it will always be 1994’s “CrazySexyCool.”

The more than diamond-selling coming of age collection is a textbook example of R&B, pop and hip-hop seamlessly converging with subject matter that’s just as socially relevant nowadays as it was back then.

It’s no wonder why the surviving duo choose to celebrate that project during a headlining appearance at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre, though it was also filled with all the other hits and even a few fresh cuts that fall right in line with the TLC of yesteryear.

TLCActually, if the cross between classics and the current proved anything, it’s the fact that these ladies have never gone out of style, which was apparent in a scan of the audience, which included those who grew up in the ‘90s, alongside younger generations surely transfixed by their ongoing cultural saturation.

“Creep” got the party going with the main members crisscrossing the giant stage filled out with a band, DJ and dance crew, though the sing-a-longs really started flowing come “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg” and “What About Your Friends.”

Out of the ballads, “Unpretty” made an empowering plea for body positivity, “Red Light Special” and “Diggin’ On You” oozed with pure sensuality, while “Baby-Baby-Baby” burst with harmonies of the sweetest order.

TLCYet it was the groove-saturated “No Scrubs” and the soulful ballad “Waterfalls” that truly brought the house down, respectively illustrating the pair’s witty and wisdom-filled personas, while putting extra emphasis on TLC’s immeasurable legacy.
