Nothing but love when Air Supply dedicates its many monster ballads to the Genesee

With a 45th anniversary right around the corner and having recently played its 5,000th concert, Air Supply has long solidified its foremost place on the softer side of pop circles. In fact, the Australian duo and their four-piece band drew another full house to the renewed, acoustically excellent Genesee Theatre with a revamped show entitled “The Lost In Love Experience.”

Following a seated acoustic set that went back towards the beginning of Air Supply, the leaders walked around the audience while leading a communal karaoke session to the gentle strums of “The One That You Love.”

Air SupplyFrom the start of “Sweet Dreams” until they were “All Out Of Love,” singer Russell Hitchcock and co-vocalist/guitarist Graham Russell sounded precisely in step with one another and right on the money when it came to their individual ranges. In fact, it was hard to believe so much time had passed since the pair met in a production of the Broadway musical “Jesus Christ Superstar,” and believe it or not, Graham reveled they’ve never had a single argument in between.

Perhaps that accounted for their chemistry and crisp harmonies, which were abundant throughout radio regulars “Even The Nights Are Better,” “Every Woman In The World,” “Here I Am (Just When I Thought I Was Over You),” “Chances” and “Goodbye.” A few newer selections entered the fold (including “I Adore You” and “Son Of The Father”), which despite being less familiar, nonetheless earned their place in the performance.
